THE BAXLEYS IN BOHEMIA

Spreading the

Gospel of Jesus Christ

in the Czech Republic

Welcome to our web site.  Our purpose is to keep our visitors informed concerning the Lord’s Work in the Czech Republic, not only through our monthly reports, but also through photos and other items of interest.  Although this will start out as a very basic web site, we do hope to expand it in the future, as time permits.

Now, a little introduction.  From my home in Texas, I came to the Czech Republic in order to preach the Gospel in May 1992.  In the fall of 1993, I met my wife Ivana Hladíková, a native of the Czech Republic.  We married on August 6, 1994.  Over the years, the Lord has blessed us with three beautiful children, Anna-Sarah (born 1998), Adela-May (born 2000) and Samuel Steven (born 2003).

We currently live in the small town of Horní Jelení, located about 125 km (78 miles) east/southeast of Prague, the capital city of the Czech Republic.  Horní Jelení has a population of about 1,800 people, and is a nice quiet place to raise a family.

We work with a small group of Christians in Litomyšl (a small city about 25 km / 16 miles from our home.)  The church of Christ in Litomyšl counts 11 members, plus 11 children.  We hope this site will help you to get better aquainted with this small group of faithful saints.  The church maintains its own website (in Czech): www.cirkevbozi.cz.

Thanks again for stopping by.  If we can answer any questions you might have, please feel free to contact us at the addresses below.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

After almost 16 years in the Czech Republic, we will be relocating to the United States, most likely by July 31. Please read the following letter for more detailed explanation of our reasons, and our plans for the future.

VOIP TELEPHONE NUMBER

To make it easier for folks in the U.S. to contact us during this transition period, I now have a VOIP telephone number: (972) 535-6205.  This works like a normal U.S. telephone number, but it rings on my internet phone over here in the Czech Republic.  If I don’t answer, I should at least have a record of your call, and I can call you back (I am trying to get voicemail to work on it).  If the 972 area code is a free call for you in the U.S., then you won’t pay anything.  If 972 is long-distance for you, then you’ll pay your normal long-distance rates.  In any case, there are no international calling charges.

Of course, we can still be contacted by e-mail at baxleyovi@cirkevbozi.cz.
